DMK Enzyme Therapy
The Clinics for Acne, Aging or Pigment are designed so that you progress from Level I to Level III in the DMK Enzyme Therapy system increasing your results with each visit. This is an overview of what to expect.
Enzyme Therapy | LEVEL 1
A basic treatment without exfoliation. This treatment creates an enzymatic reaction in the skin which will stimulate blood and lymph circulation, increase cell oxygenation and remove toxins and wastes, restoring structural integrity back to the skin.
Enzyme therapy + Exfoliation | LEVEL 2
Enzyme therapy with a customized pre exfoliation incorporating advanced skin resurfacing that is specifically designed to acne, congested skin, premature aging, wrinkles fine lines and pigmentation.
Enzyme Therapy plus muscle banding | LEVEL 3
This treatment takes it up a notch to provide more intensive results to strengthen and firm the skin by utilizing two types of pre exfoliation or muscle banding. (Level 3 treatment requires a minimum of two DMK Enzyme Treatments before any advanced skin exfoliation treatment.)
StemZyme & Resurfacing | LEVEL 4
DMK’s resurfacing procedures are for those wanting dramatic results. This is an integrated aesthetic approach to skin restoration. These professional treatments revise the old, damaged skin and works to reestablish structural integrity. The formulations are applied systemically in layers varying in strength by your therapist to suit your skin color, texture, fragility and condition. During this extensive consultation we will discuss what acne is and how to help you achieve clear skin. We will go over life style changes, home care, diet, and your daily activities. I will determined what type of acne you have and the best course of treatment. This appointment will include a full consultation, facial cleanse and product patch test.
- You will be asked to complete a comprehensive intake form
- You will receive an in depth skin analysis to determine best course of treatment
- You will have preliminary pictures taken for our records (this is to follow progress)
- You will receive a facial cleanse and a patch test for product sensitivity if needed due to allergies.

Acne Boot camp treatment plan
Each acne treatment may vary based on what your skin needs at the time of service. There will be times where your skin needs more hydration and other times it will need more anti-inflammatory and/or anti-bacterial action. Treatments are performed every two weeks until your skin clears. Typically this takes around 10-12 weeks.
- Exfoliate the skin to allow for better product absorption and remove skin cell build up (Main cause of acne)

HOW DOES PDT WORK?
An agent called Levulan® Kerastick® (aminolevulinic acid HCI) for Topical Solution is used in combination with various lasers. ALA is a substance that occurs naturally in your body. It is selectively absorbed into acne producing glands as well as other abnormal skin tissue such as actinic keratoses (precancerous skin lesions) and makes those cells more sensitive to light. The laser light activates the active ingredients in Levulan. In the case of acne, the sebaceous glands which are responsible for producing acne are decreased.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?
Your skin will first be cleansed using special solutions to remove oils. Levulan is then applied to your skin using a special applicator in which it is packaged. The solution remains on your skin for approximately one hour for the face. If the back or chest is treated your incubation time may vary from 3-5 hours. The Levulan is then activated by laser light using Blu-U.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY TREATMENT?
A book or something to help occupy your time since you will be incubating for at least one hour.
A hat, scarf or other covering for your face, especially on warm sunny days or if you live far from the office. Any immediate exposure to light will increase the reaction on your skin. Even though this is not particularly dangerous to the skin, it may increase your recovery time significantly.
THE NEXT 40 HOURS
You are restricted from exposure to sunlight for 40 hours following the treatment. We recommend that you go home immediately after treatment and remain indoors the remainder of the day and the entire next day until sundown. Extended exposure to the computer screen or other visible light is not recommended in the first 40 hours.
THE NEXT FEW DAYS
Peeling, redness and dryness may be experienced for up to one week after the treatment. The first three days are most affected. You will receive instruction for caring for your skin at the time of your procedure. You may apply make-up three days after the procedure in most cases.*
